DubbEDC

EDC reviews that start with the specs.

Knives, flashlights and headlamps, multitools, pens and pouches. Steel, lock type, weight in grams, lumens, runtime and clip position come first, then how the thing carried and worked.

What we cover

Four categories of everyday carry. Each tile lists what a review in that category records first.

How we test

Justin Willhite buys or is sent each item, carries it, uses it, and reports what he found. There is no lab and no test rig, so any number that comes from the maker is labelled as the maker’s. Each review records the following, where it applies to the product.

What each DubbEDC review records
Recorded What it means in a review Applies to
Steel The blade steel the maker names, and how the edge held up in the cutting we did. Knives and multitools
Lock type Liner lock, frame lock, axis lock, back lock or none, and whether it stayed solid in use. Folding knives and multitools
Weight Weight in grams, and whether it is measured by us or taken from the maker. We say which. Everything
Lumens and runtime The maker's claimed output and the runtime we saw in use. We do not run lab tests. Flashlights and headlamps
Clip and carry position Clip style, which pocket or belt position it carried in, and whether it printed or snagged. Everything that clips
Price The price when we bought or received it, and a link to the current price. Everything

Who is behind the reviews

DubbEDC is a review channel for everyday carry: folding knives and fixed blades, flashlights and headlamps, multitools, pens, pouches and other pocket gear. Each review leads with the numbers an EDC buyer checks first, such as blade steel, lock type, weight in grams, lumens, runtime and clip position, then says how the item carried and worked in use.

DubbEDC is operated by Justin Willhite and is part of the CommQuest network, alongside CommQuest, JDubb (jdubbreviews.com), Dubb Outdoors (dubboutdoors.com), DubbSupps (dubbsupps.com) and DubbPets (dubbpets.com). Each channel has its own site and its own videos.

Common questions

The spec sheet first (steel, lock type, weight in grams, lumens, runtime, clip position, price where they apply), then how the item carried and worked in daily use, the good and the bad.
Does DubbEDC run lab tests?
No. Justin Willhite uses each product and reports what he found. Numbers from the maker are labelled as the maker's numbers.
Are DubbEDC reviews sponsored?
Nothing buys a positive verdict. When a video is sponsored, it says so. Amazon links are affiliate links, so we earn a commission if you buy, at no extra cost to you.

Folding knives and fixed blades, flashlights and headlamps, multitools, pens, pouches and other pocket gear.
Where can I watch DubbEDC reviews?
